Small Business Development Center SBDC

The Greater Louisville SBDC is a member of a federally funded network providing FREE one-on-one consulting services, marketing research and training programs for existing small businesses and start-up ventures.  The Chamber Jeffersontown and the City of Jeffersontown have partnered with the SBDC to provide a satellite office in Jeffersontown.  The office is located at 10434 Watterson Trail.  Free business consulting is by appointment only.

The Greater Louisville SBDC assists management of small businesses in identifying problem areas through needs assessments that are often followed by internal and external Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT) analysis.  The Greater Louisville SBDC staff functions as facilitator and provider of FREE counseling assistance in general management problems.  The staff will recommend and help arrange for any additional non-center expertise required to implement problem solutions or react to business opportunities.

When your business is successful, Louisville is successful, and SCORE #75 in Louisville is excited about seeing both things happen.

Not only does SCORE have counselors who were successful salespeople, we also have small to medium business owners who have sold their own products. Counselors are ready to share their expertise. SCORE also has counselors who have been successful sales trainers who would be happy to assist your organization maximize your success.  

A few simple questions to ask yourself and your sales team before you contact SCORE are:
What is my product? What differentiates it from my competitors’ product?
Why would they buy from me? What is our target market?
Have we carved out a niche?
What are the strengths of my sales team? What areas need improvement?

KYTC Small Business Ombudsman

David Harris helps small business owners interact with all transportation, from road project, traffic signal, transferring a car title, motor carrier requirements, airport, etc. 

The KYTC Small Business Ombudsman is responsible for responding to all inquiries from small businesses pertaining to administrative regulations and other regulatory matters created by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

FastTrac GrowthVenture Program

Ready to grow? Don’t know how?

The Chamber Jeffersontown sponsors FastTrac existing business growth programs from the Kauffman Foundation for Entrepreneurship. Over 200,000 entrepreneurs have participated in this program nationwide.

The Chamber Jeffersontown offers FastTrac programs to meet the needs of its small business members that have firms that are at least 3 - 5 years old. These programs promote the growth and sustainability of our members’ businesses.

SCORE, Counselors to Louisville’s Small Businesses, participates in The Chamber Jeffersontown’s FastTrac GrowthVenture programs by providing expert speakers for many of the ten weekly modules. Additionally, entrepreneurs will learn about the free services SCORE offers and how mentoring can help guide them through the challenges every business owner experiences.

FastTrac GrowthVenture – A 10-week program (3 hours weekly), is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to research and think through the different aspects of their businesses, creating a plan for growth through a business plan development process.  With GrowthVenture, you will work with other entrepreneurs and expert speakers to improve your:

                        ·         Overall business strategy and vision for the future

·         Ability to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace

·         Changing role in managing the business

·         Focus and alignment of all aspects of the business

The Chamber Jeffersontown will provide scholarships for participating members in the amount of $200. The normally $695 program cost is $495 to Chamber members. Please use the Sponsor Code JTOWN1 to receive the member price.

FastTrac Listening to Your Business – A half-day program that provides entrepreneurs with the opportunity to take the time to work ON your business and not just IN it. Listening to Your Business is a hands-on, facilitated workshop designed to provide entrepreneurs and business managers with the critical evaluation tools and action steps needed to maximize the growth and profitability of their businesses.

                        ·         Taking a business snapshot

                  ·         Setting a three-year vision

·         Evaluating the planning process

·         Translating goals into an action plan

Many entrepreneurs attend Listening to Your Business to understand the basics of using a vision for the future and plan their growth to attain their goals.
