Dear Chamber Members,

This is my 12th week as President of The Chamber Jeffersontown.   I want to thank all of those who have given me such a warm welcome and strong support!  The initial goals related to restructuring have been reached.  I wanted to take this opportunity to share the objectives from our recent Board of Directors planning retreat.

The Board of Directors has pledged their leadership, support, and involvement to the following Goals:
    1. Continue to provide and enhance the customized service we provide our members 
    2. Voice the needs of business in order to promote the growth of the local economy

The Chamber Jeffersontown proactively works to grow the local economy and promote businesses through workforce development combined with educational programs, networking opportunities, targeted marketing and community involvement.

Workforce Development - Education

With the 2008 Community Career Expo approaching, The Chamber  Jeffersontown is taking active steps in the workforce development of this community.  Your company is encouraged to be a vendor and take advantage of the opportunity to gain a diverse and educated workforce.  The Community Career Expo will take place at the Jeffersontown Community Center on June 25th from 10am - 3pm.

The Chamber is proud to update you on the new KentuckianaWorks One Stop Career Center, right here in Jeffersontown!  Renovations are taking place now, and KentuckianaWorx plans to open this East End One Stop Career Center in August 2008.  For more information on the KentuckianaWorks One Stop Career Centers in Louisville, click here.

City of Jeffersontown receives Bike/Ped Trail Grant

Congratulations! 

The City of Jeffersontown has been awarded a grant to extend of the Gaslight Recreational & Workplace Bicycle & Pedestrian Trail.  This grant will provide a much needed connection between Skyview Baseball & Recreational Park to the downtown and onto Veteran's Memorial Park.

Financial Literacy Summit Impacts your Business

The Kentucky Council on Economic Education (KCEE) is announcing the first Kentucky summit to advance financial education efforts in Kentucky's schools to help create a financially literate and economically strong society.   Business leaders, policy-makers, administrators, and educators are invited to participate.
