The start of a new year is the perfect time to refocus on your health and fitness goals.  While regular exercise is important, your diet plays a key role in achieving sustainable results.  Here are 5 simple tips to keep you on track:

1. Set S.M.A.R.T Goals: Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound goals help create a clear and actionable path to success.  Focus on realistic objectives such as exercising 3 times a week or meal prepping on Sundays.  Kick off your goals by joining a gym contest, work competition, or even the Clean Eatz “WE CHANGE LIVEZ” challenge to get you started on your journey.

2. Create a Routine: Schedule your workouts and exercise on your calendar like any other appointment to build consistency.  Do the same for your meal prep, whether you make it yourself or order from meal prep services. If your calendar is viewable by your employees, you get a bonus benefit of showing your employees you are committed to health and wellness.

3. Track Progress: An old-fashioned journal works great, but there are lots of apps to help track meals, achievements, and even provide motivation.  For example, My Fitness Pal, offers free or paid options.  Many health facilities offer FREE InBody Scanner to track your weight, muscle mass, and body fat.  We have one at Springhurst Clean Eatz.

4. Stay Flexible: Allow room for adjustments to avoid burnout or frustration.  Don’t compare yourself to others – your journey is unique to you!  You may indulge one day, but don’t let it define you or get you off track to your bigger goals.

5. Seek Support:  Research supports having a buddy in the process makes a difference – so grab a friend, co-worker, or personal trainer for accountability.

Health and wellness is a journey.  Find the right partner to keep you on track with your goals and cheer you on across all your milestones!
