Staying on track with nutrition and fitness during Derby can be challenging, but doable. Here are 5 simple tips:

1. Plan ahead: Churchill posts menus, and most parties even include menus online.  Knowing what’s ahead will help you start the day better.  Grab meals from healthier alternatives to have available, or Include protein with breakfast because it keeps you fuller for longer, and whatever you do…don’t skip breakfast!

2. Stay active: Get a workout in before you start the day!  If you can’t make it happen, park farther away or take time to walk around and enjoy the sites!

3. Practice moderation: This can be tricky when tickets now include “all you can eat and drink,” or the party has your favorite things to eat.  Don’t skip meals, and balance your plate with these tips to keep your macros in check.
Carbohydrates = Handful
Proteins = Palm of your hand
Vegetables = Size of fist
Fats = Size of thumb

4. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water, especially if indulging in alcoholic beverages or spending time in the sun.  So how much water should you drink?   Simply divide your weight in pounds by 2 – this equals the ounces you should drink daily.

5. Rest:  If you’re going to stay up late for the party, make sure to set that alarm a little later the next day.

Don’t stress if you can’t stick to your routine perfectly. Enjoy the Derby festivities and Clean Eatz will help get you back on track!
